First spy shots of the Renault Scala seen on the internet

It was during the weekend, when the entire world was planning to enjoy it sitting back at home or go partying, internet got brimmed with spy shots of the upcoming Renault Scala saloon. It was during the last week itself, when the Renault saloon was reported to be based on Nissan Sunny. The spy shots of the car confirmed the reports.

The Scala has been seen to be based on Nissan Sunny and Micra’s V-platform. As per the leaked images, what added an all-new identity to the upcoming saloon was the new hexagonal grille along with new headlamps. However, the rear portion of the car has been kept quite similar to Sunny. As far as the wheels are concerned, the Scala is to continue featuring Renault-hatch’s alloy wheels. Interior changes have been minimized, thus pointing towards a possible launch during the Diwali.

Under the hood, the upcoming saloon will feature the same powerhouse as that of Nissan Sunny – a 1.5L diesel engine and a similar configuration petrol powertrain too. The diesel variant is capable of delivering a power of 54.8bhp, while the same for the petrol avatar is 98bhp. It’s because of the Renault-Nissan alliance that the price tag of the Scala is to vary a bit from the Sunny. Moreover, following the success of the newly launched Renault Duster, expectations are pretty high from the Scala.

With such high anticipations and performance already on the cards, we can certainly expect the Scala to stand up to the expectations and come out with the desired results. All we can do is wait for the saloon’s launch and hope for Renault’s success in the saloon segment in Indian car market. We mustnot ignore the famed automobile names (Chevrolet, Toyota etc.) that are already playing in the market, with which the French automaker has to compete to attain success.
