Would the legendary Volkswagen Beetle get an electric conversion kit? Seems so. The e-Beetle, as it is being called, will be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The battery kit to be fitted in the Beetle is said to have been developed in collaboration with Renningen based company eClassics. Beetle would have 14 different battery modules built into the battery’s underbody.
Total capacity of all the modules is 36.8kWh with a maximum range of 200km. with CCS rapid charging the car can go for 150km. But the biggest downside of the eBeetle is its weight. At 1280KG, the eBeetle weighs around 400kg more than its conventionally powered cousin.
