Mahindra & Mahindra has declared that it will reopen the bookings for its hugely popular SUV, the Mahindra XUV500, for a limited period of 10 days starting January 25th, 2012. The bookings in this phase will now extend to 19 cities across the country, namely Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh/ Panchkula, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Patiala, Trivandrum, Kochi, Jalandhar, Trissur, Calicut, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik. Previously, M&M had to stop taking orders for Mahindra XUV500 after it received a huge response from the consumers and, the company was overburdened with orders. In the previous phase, it sold 8000 units of this SUV in 5 cities in just 10 days.
Since the demand for this SUV is extremely high in the market, the company has come out with a unique plan to cater to customers. It has decided to conduct an Mahindra XUV500 draw, in case the number of bookings exceeds 7200 units, which will give its customers a reasonable waiting period.
The draw will be conducted by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd. (DTTIPL) as per mutually agreed terms and conditions between M&M and DTTIPL. Details of this draw will shortly be made available on the brand website of XUV500. Customers can apply for this draw by purchasing an application form for Rs.80,000 and applications will be received from 9 a.m. on January 25th up to 7 p.m. on 3rd February, 2012. Results of this draw will be announced on 15th February, 2012.
Speaking on this matter, Mr. Vivek Nayar, Sr. Vice President – Marketing Automotive Division of M&M, said that the draw is being conducted to ensure that the customers do not have to wait to get their hands on the XUV500 beyond a reasonable period.
The Mahindra XUV500 has received a tremendous response from the car lovers in India since it hit the markets in this country. So far, this vehicle has received 18 prestigious awards, including ‘Car of the Year’, ‘SUV of the Year’, Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year’ from ET-Zigwheel Awards 2011. It has also received similar awards from NDTV Car & Bikes Awards 2012, CNBC TV18-Overdrive Awards 2012, Bloomberg UTV-Autocar India Awards 2012 etc.
