Mahindra has launched an updated version of its iconic Scorpio SUV in India. Known as Mahindra Scorpio Automatic because of its automatic transmission system, the car has been priced at Rs.13.13 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The newly launched Scorpio will have two variants both of which will come with 6-speed automatic transmission. The difference in two variants will be that one will have two-wheel drive while the other will come with all wheel drive option.

Apart from a new transmission, the new automatic Scorpio is same as its previous standard variant that was launched in September 2014. The engine fitted one these is the same 2.2-liter mHawk four0cylinder diesel capable of churning out 120bhp of peak power and 280Nm of peak torque.

Anti-roll technologies and new cushion suspension have been added to the car. This has been done to improve the car’s driving performance. On the inside though, there are some new additions. For instance, the Scorpio Automatic has been given new dual front airbags, a new 6-inches Touchscreen Infotainment system, automatic temperature control and rain and light sensing sensors.

Currently, Scorpio is the only SUV in its price range to have an automatic transmission system fitted to it. This would act as a huge advantage for the car since there is a large chunk of customers who are looking for easy-to-drive SUV at this price range.
