The market leader in theautomotive sector,Maruti Suzuki India Limited, announced its higher education scheme exclusively designed for its shop floor technicians. The company has signed the MoU with the HISCET (Haryana-IGNOU Society for Community Education and Training) and HSBTE (Haryana State Board of Technical Education) to offer a 3 year diploma in engineering for its shop floor technicians.
The MoU was signed by Additional secretary, Mr. K. K. Kataria, Mr. MukeshChadha, Secretary HSBTE and Mr. Rajesh Uppal Executive Director, (IT) Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. The program has been titled as Gyanoday.
This initiative will allow company to enrich available manpower with enhanced knowledge and skills to meet the future business requirement of the company.
Main aspects of Gayanoday higher education program:
The program is designed by a special team which has expertise in handling manufacturing challenges. The program offers 3 year diploma in engineering through the part-time classes and is offered in mechanical, electronic and electrical stream. The total seat available for the program is about 60 (which are eventually to be doubled to 120).
The selection will be based on the entrance exam and on merit basis. Entrance test will be conducted by HISCET. The course will be divided into 6 semester and 24 subjects. The course will also include 4 practical and customized course and module. Classes will be conducted every week for 4 days.
The company is also offering about 50% subsidy in the fee. The remaining amount will be made available through the interest free loans, which will be offered to the meritorious shop technicians.
After the completion of the course with 60 percent or above CGPA, that employee will be considered for promotion to supervisor cadre.
