Maruti Suzuki India recently joined the Clean Development Mission programme undertaken by UN. The aim behind the programme is to decrease the emissions of carbon dioxide.
A statement released by the company said that they have announced their registration for this project, taking forward their commitment in the direction of a green world. Participating in this programme, the company will take on specific projects, which are aimed towards cutting down CO2 emissions within their operations, which will generate carbon credits for Maruti.
According to the company, they are the first auto manufacturer in India who have committed themselves to this UN CDM project. The company’s CEO and MD Shinzo Nakanishi said that with this initiative they will increase their focus and responsibility towards the environment.
