Maruti Suzuki to establish two manufacturing units at Gujarat

India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up two new manufacturing plants at Gujarat. Suzuki Motor Corporation after getting bankrupt in the US market is now concentrating more on the Asian markets; setting up plant in Gujarat is a step in the same direction.

According to Economics Times, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki, Osamu Suzuki is considering for an India trip on January 24 and 25th to finalize the Gujarat Plant. MSI will be acquiring a 480 acre plot at Ukarade and Ughroz villages along with the 700 acres of the land already allocated by the government of Gujarat.

With the proposed investment of about Rs.4000 crore, the company will be setting up the plant that will be adding about 2.5 lakhs more vehicle to the company’s current capacity. Other than this company is also planning to reveal some new models in the Indian market.

R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki said that they are looking for the 2nd location and the land acquisition is under progress. He further added that they will be having the same two location model at Gujarat that can be expanded in case of rise in demand.

In order to avoid the complications, company has now decided to acquire the land on its own. Acquisition will directly deal with the land owners keeping in mind the future needs of the company. The executive further added that land prices in Gujarat have already started rising.
