Mahindra seems to be making the news for all the right reasons lately with the XUV500 crossing the mark of 1.5 lakh units sold in another landmark for the carmaker. The XUV500 was launched in 2011 and has since then been quite popular in the multi utility vehicle category.
The car has been a conception of Mahindra in house and has been made at the Chennai factory of the brand. The current updated edition of the XUV500 was released earlier this year and apart from that there haven’t been too many changes that Mahindra has made to the winning model.
Power to the car comes from the popular and trustworthy 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine which delivers 140bhp in terms of power as well as 330Nm of torque. The car also comes with quite a few features which make it all the more desirable in the market. These include modern add ons such as illuminated scuff plates, electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, a great infotainment system as well as up to six airbags ensuring that safety is given topmost priority as well.
The present XUV500 line up is available at prices between Rs.11 lakh and 16 lakh. It is fairly competitive and has been successfully able to take on the like of the Renault Duster, Nissan Teranno as well as the Hyundai Creta in spite of being launched earlier than them. Another winner indeed, from the Mahindra stable.
