Sony Playstation and Nissan introduced the first ever Indian season of GT Academy 2014 in Delhi in February and today, they are here in Mumbai from 20th to 23rd March, hoping to find the next winner of GT Academy 2014. GT Academy is a driver development and discovery programme, which is being organized by the automaker in major cities across India. The New Delhi qualifying rounds are already over. Post the Mumbai qualifying rounds; it will be hosted at shopping malls in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. Sony and Nissan held the first GT Academy in 2008, and since then the program has been defying both common sense and motorsports tradition. This academy takes people who are good at video games and, in a matter of months, turns them into professional drivers.

Kenichiro Yomura, President at Nissan India said we are delighted to introduce GT Academy in the country; bringing the programme here strengthens our commitment to growing the Nissan brand and developing relationships with both potential and existing customers. GT Academy really proves that the automaker stands for excitement and innovation for everyone. At the Silverstone Race Camp, the 6 shortlisted Indian contestants will compete against 18 contestants from other countries. Under the supervision of motorsports experts, their driving skills will be honed and tested on F1 Silverstone motor racing circuit, in Nismo-tuned Nissan GT-Rs and 370Zs. The Silverstone Race Camp will select one overall winner, who will move on to the Driver Development Programme and learn all the skills necessary to compete in an international ‘graduation race’.
