Nissan working on low cost Micra

Nissan Micra appeared in the Indian market in 2010 and now the company is planning for a low cost version of the same which is expected to hit the market in March this year.

The car was recently spotted at Chennai’s outskirts with covered tail-lamps. As evident from the image the Nissan Micra may get a new tail-lamp, although the rear bumper design and wheel cap still look same as the current car. However, we are expecting for some interior tweaks as car maker is hoping to bring the cost down. The front adjustable headrest is expected to be replaced with the cheaper single piece design. Company is also planning to remove several other features also. Currently Micra is priced at Rs.4.23 lakh for the petrol model and Rs. 5.98 lakh for the base diesel version.

The new car is expected to cost about Rs. 70,000 less so as to compete with the cars like Honda Brio and Hyundai i10.
