French automobile manufacturer, Renault is making plans to roll out two low-priced vehicles for growing markets including India, out of which one car will give tough competition to world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano.
The reports said that both the cars in the making will be fabricated together in collaboration with Renault’s strategic associate Nissan and will price near Rs 5,000 euros and 2,500 euros respectively.
Renault is eyeing to roll out the said cars by 2014 end.
The reports also said that the auto maker is making plans to set up both these vehicles at its plant situated in Chennai.
The sources added that the prices of the said vehicle will be really competitive in the domestic market.
But, Renault hasn’t shared any proposals linked to it, but has agreed to the truth that the firm is working hard on such a plan.
Company’s COO Carlos Tavares stated, “When the project has been authoritatively determined… we will make a declaration,”
These two affordable vehicle were previously demanded by Renault and Nissan chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn, who stated that the group require even cheaper models than the company’s existing Dacia series for the growing market zones.
