Rinspeed Dock+Go concept returns at Geneva Motor show

Geneva is host to the world’s best automotive creations, from fast cars, to technologically loaded cars, to outrageous crazy inventions. The Rainspeed Doc+Go has just what it needs to make room at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Last year, Rinspeed introduced its Dock+Go concept at the Geneva Motor show, a Smart two-seater electric Drive, with a wagon attachment whose wheels could recharge the battery. The idea was so remarkable, that this year, the Swiss company went ahead and added what Rinspeed calls, a wheeled backpan.

Teaser shots of the Dock+Go emerged last year, but as its appearance approaches, more details and images have emerged. It’s a Smart ED with detachable backpan, which you can fir a powerplant from a proper petrol engine, fuel cell or battery pack. The docked third axle drives the rotating second axle, recharging the ED’s on-board batteries.

Talking of performance, it has a 0-100kmph of 13.3 seconds. The top speed without the extra battery in place is 132mph, while the speed with battery in place is 82mph.

The trailer comes in several sizes tailored for different uses – a heated box for pizza delivery drivers, a mobile toolbox for craftsman, a golf club carrying thing and a camping equipment store.

It’s described by its makers as an “electric flea that is the dream car of every pizza delivery driver.”
