General Motor India has finally launched their Sail sedan in Indian market. The new vehicle has been tagged with a price tag starting from Rs. 4.99 lakh. Chevrolet Sail Sedan has been revealed in both petrol and diesel version with a total of 8 versions out of which petrol comes in 4 and diesel owns 4 versions. The price of petrol version starts from Rs. 4.99 to Rs. 6.42 lakh and diesel version is priced from Rs.6.29 lakh to Rs. 7.52 lakh.

Chevrolet India already offers competitors against Swift as Sail U-VA hatchback and now with the Sail Sedan it will be in direct competition with Swift Dzire. While the petro version of the sedan houses 1.2 Smartech 4 cylinder engine the diesel will be powered by 1.3 litre multijet engine.

The 1.2 litre Smartech petrol engine is the similar motor that powers Beat and Sail U-VA hatchback and delivers a maximum power output of 84 bhp and peak torque of 116 Nm with incredible mileage of 18.2 kmpl. The 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine housed in Sail sedan also powers Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

The diesel version delivers about 22.1 Kmpl so, there can be a healthy fight between Swift Dzire and Sail Sedan. Both the diesel and petrol version will be mated with the 5 speed manual gearbox.

If features are to be considered Chevrolet Sail Sedan offers tons of advanced features with the Sail sedan that makes it feature rich and safer. However, most of the advanced features about hired only in the higher end version.

The active safety features includes Auto door locks, ABS and EBD along with the passive safety features like airbags, seatbelts, side impact beams and collapsible steering.
