Tata Motors Witnesses 10% Increase in Sales to 62,296 Models in May 2011

Tata Motors witnessed an overall sales of 62,296 vehicles, which includes export and domestic sales, in May, 2011. This is an increase of 10% in comparison to the 56,775 models sold in the same period last year. Meanwhile, Tata’s domestic sales accounted for 56,762 vehicles sold an increase of 8%, in comparison to the 52,799 vehicles sold in the same period, last year.

The company’s cumulative sales including exports for the financial year were around 1,26,678 models, an increase of 11%, in comparison to the 1,13,974 models sold in the year before. For May, 2011, the company sold around 37,361 commercial vehicles in domestic market, compared to the 31,475 commercial vehicles sold in the same period, last year, a growth of 19%.

The sale of light commercial vehicles or LCV’s was around 21,829 vehicles, an increase of 24% over the corresponding period, last year. Meanwhile, M & HCV sales were around 15,532 models, an increase of 12% compared to the corresponding period, last year. The overall commercial vehicle sales in domestic market were around 74,099 models for the fiscal year, an increase of 19% compared to the previous fiscal year.


The cumulative sales of LCV’s stood at 44,631 models, an increase of 26% over 2010, whereas M & HCV sales were around 29,468 models, an increase of 9% in comparison to a year ago. The business of passenger vehicles saw an overall distribution and sale of around 21,549 vehicles, which includes 2,148 models of Fiat and 19,401 models of Tata, in domestic market last month, compared to the 23,487 models (21,324 models of Tata and 2,163 models of Fiat) the year before.

Meanwhile their sales of passenger vehicles in May, 2011 were 19,401 models, a decrease of 9% than last years. The Tata Nano, meanwhile, saw sales of 6,515 models, a increase of 84% over the same period, last year. The Indica range sold 5,497 models, a decrease of 35% compared to the same period, last year. As for their Venture, Aria, Safari and Sumo range, it accounted for 3,121 vehicles sold, an increase of 15%, compared to May, 2010.

Their sales of the Jaguar Land Rover brand are also maintaining their increasing momentum. The cumulative distribution and sales of passenger vehicles for this fiscal year in domestic markets were around 46,985 models (42,788 models of Tata and 4,197 models of Fiat), in comparison to the 48,386 models (44,423 models of Tata and 3,963 models of Fiat) sold last year, a decrease of 3%.

The cumulative sales of the company’s passenger vehicles stood at 42,788 models, a decrease of 4% in comparison to the 44,423 models sold in the same period, last year. The Nano saw an astounding increase of 134% in sales, selling around 16,527 models in comparison to the 7,075 models sold in the May, 2010. The Indica range saw cumulative sales of 9,747 models a decrease of 44%.

The Indigo range saw cumulative sales of 9,550 models, a decrease of 31%. Meanwhile, the cumulative sales of their Aria, Safari and Sumo range sold 6,964 models, an increase of 15%. The company witnessed export sales of 5,534 models for May, 2011, an increase of 39%, in comparison to the 3,976 models sold in the same period, last year. Meanwhile, the cumulative export sales increased by 38% for the fiscal year, selling 9,792 models in comparison to the 7,113 models sold in the previous fiscal year.
