The Skoda Prize 2012: Invitation for application to start from June 30th

Whenever it comes to Indian contemporary art, The Skoda Prize certainly occupies the space as one of the most extrusive platforms. Skoda India launched the Skoda Prize back in 2009. Being the largest and the most prestigious award on the Indian visual arts scene, the Skoda Prize has to recognize avant-garde works that demonstrate innovation and maturity in understanding materials and forms. This year The Skoda Prize’s enrollment window will be opened from June 30th and the enrollment process will continue till 31st August, 2012.

The eligibility criteria for the participants are equally demanding as The Skoda Prize is. Only people with age of less than 45 years, who have conducted solo shows in India over last one year demonstrating their braced vision, innovationand maturity in understanding of material and form, are eligible. Eligible candidates can file their application on The Skoda Prize’s official The award event will witness an exhaustive pool of talented individuals from every corner of the nation. In fact some names can be encountered who have made themselves distinguished internationally in the Indian contemporary art.

The winner of The Skoda Prize will be showered with a cash prize of Rs.10,00,000 along with the grand title of ‘The Skoda Prize Winner’. Now if you feel that it’s the winner only, who cashes in on the award ceremony with such grand prizes, I must say you’re wrong. In The Skoda Prize 2011, two runner ups were awarded with a 4-week residency in Switzerland, which is supported by Swiss Arts Council, Pro Helvetia.

The jury panel of The Skoda Prize is headed by renowned personalities.Famous cultural institutions and museums are there to support the jury.
