When needed to boost the sales, launch a special edition’, said by an unknown automotive journo, and that’s what the Volvo seemed to have taken up religiously at the moment. As rolled out the XC60 R-Design, this Swedish automaker wasn’t satisfied either, and so launched the S60 R-Design as well. Priced for Rs 40.10 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, this sedan was recently revived with a facelift in India and was bedded with the newly introduced 2.0-L Drive-E engine of 181bhp mated to a new 8-speed gearbox.
However, now on the changed front, S60 R-Design dwells authentic R-Design badge on the blackened front grille, honeycomb mesh air dam gets blackened too. Wheels get 5-spoke diamond cut alloys in the size of 18-inch. At rear, there it was added a diffuser, and the exhaust gets chrome treatment. Other cosmetic gimmick frayed on this is car is the silver-colored wing mirrors and new Passion Red paint shade.
Inside the cabin of S60, the new R-Design continues to retain its authentication with the pedal-shifts on steering, new music system, sat-nav and rear view camera.
However, there needed not to comment why Volvo is not taking up such launches so aggressively to media houses because of its already high-budget plans that gets the vehicle here in CBU forms, no local production laid out yet. With the ongoing time, Volvo had also approved that it may not be thinking of India-based production soon due to conservative and smart financial ideologies behind its functionalities.
