Workers to resume production at Igatpuri plant of Mahindra

The lgatpuri plant near Nashik, which is responsible for the production of engines for vehicles like XUV500, Bolero, Xylo, Genio and Maxximo, has been the center of a labor strike for the last 13 days. But now with the intervention from Uddhav Thackeray, President, Shiv Sena production is expected to resume from tomorrow, according to a union leader. The 13 day strike that was started on 9th April for recalling the suspension of two employees has been called off.

Speaking on the issue, Suryakant Mahadik, president, Bhartiya Kamgar Sena that is affiliated to Shiv Sena said that the meeting with Pawan Goenka, President of Automotive and Farm Equipment Division of the Mahindra & Mahindra and Uddhav Thackeray, management has decided to recon the chargesheet against the two workers who were suspended. So, they have decided to call off the protest and will resume work as soon as possible.

As per an estimate Mahindra has inducted a loss of about 8000 units during the protest time. Although the company officials are not willing to comment on this issue. The protest was carried out by about 1,600 employees that included the contract workers and employees, were demanding the cancellation of the suspension of Sunil Yadav, president of Bhartiya Kamgar Sangh and a worker.
