Nissan GT-R is an esteemed car already, as it offers a “super car” performance at such an unbelievable price. With every new edition, Nissan has worked hard on improving the GT-R for its customers. Each car has been a trendsetter and an inspiration for other developers in its segment. But how do you further improve something which is already close to being the best? May be you and I don’t, but Nissan surely knows how to. The latest edition of GT-R called the Nismo, is said to be the fastest accelerating production vehicle in the world. The new Nismo is claiming to reach a speed of 100 km/ hour from zero in just 2 seconds.

Nissan is being helped in this mighty project by Williams or to be more precise, the engineering division called Williams Advanced Engineering. An engineer at WAE has been reported saying that “You’d be surprised at how much room for improvement there is – even with a car like the GT-R. Where you expect it’s all been tuned to the maximum, it’s actually easy to make big gains.”

The current GT-R is being powered by a V6 twin turbo engine with a 6 speed dual clutch transmission which is said to be running at its peak performance level already. The car is able to achieve this transition to 100 km/hour in an astonishing 2.7 seconds only. In order to achieve this in a span of 2 seconds the company is working on getting the optimum power to weight ratio. To put it simply, they are cutting down the car weight and churning out more power. Extensive use of Carbon Fiber will be the key to reduce the car weight which is over 1600 kg for the standard model. The company may also use the KERS system to produce a power of 650 PS. The tyres too will need to get grippier and they will also have to adjust the gear shift timing.

2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo
Currently the title of the fastest accelerating production car lies with Bugatti Veyron. This car churns out a power of astonishing 1200 bhp and reaches the 3 figure speed from sand still in just 2.46 seconds. This mighty vehicle costs an enthusiast a total of $2.5 million. On the contrary, super cool Nissan GT-R capable of achieving a speed of 100 km/ hour in 2.7s second comes at a price of $150,000. Now do you get why the car is so appreciated? It is giving an A class performance at such a fractional price.

The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo will make its first public appearance at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show which will be held in November.
