Fiat has started marketing the latest variant of its hatchback, the Fiat Grande Punto, in the European automobile markets. As can be clearly visualized from the looks given to this latest car, the Punto has been provided with significant changes in terms of design as well as a lot more departments. A facelift version with minor changes has also been recently launched in the Indian market with the main feature being the impressive ground clearance that the car has been provided with. However, the version of the Fiat Grande Punto that has been launched in the European market is expected to come to India in around a year.
The car that has been launched in the European market has been provided with significant modifications in its front portion with its grille and bumper being designed afresh. The turn indicators are now provided in its front bumper. The position of the badge of the 2012 variant of the Punto has also been shifted. However, the modification of its looks has not been restricted only to its front portion. The back of the car has also seen changes with addition of a newer bumper and tail lights. The back portion sees an increased curve in comparison to the previous models. The badge has also moved to its centre.
Further modification to the exterior is seen in the Fiat Grande Punto as the car has been equipped with alloy wheels of 15-inch width. A look at the interiors of the car reveals that the car maker has provided an upgrade to the fabric of the car seats, which has provided the car with freshness in looks. Hence, it can be said that the car has significantly increased in style. This new look car had been initially displayed at an auto exhibition held in Germany in the year 2011. A modification that is going to prove exciting to power lovers is the provision of its latest twin petrol engine that is Air turbocharged. This latest 875cc engine is capable of generating 85BHp maximum power and a 145Nm peak torque. This has been able to significantly bring down fuel consumption and has made this car quite economic to operate. This factor is going to prove the USP of this car if Fiat makes plans of launching this car in India, equipped with the new engine. The other variant that this car is available in is the tried and tested 1.3 Multijet2 diesel engine, which generates maximum power and peak torque figures of 90Bhp and 200Nm respectively. This is the same engine that is also present in the Indian version of the Punto.
