Mahindra and Mahindra yesterday announced the auto sales figures for financial year 2012-13 which stood straight with the sale figure of 563373 units, about 17 percent increase against the sale figure in 2011-12 that stood at 483164 units.
The company’s auto sales figures for the month of March stand at 51904 units against the 46919 units during the same period last year with a growth of 11 percent. The domestic sale of the company stands at 49225 units during March 2013 in comparison to 44260 units during March 2012, an overall increase of 11 percent. The passenger vehicle segment (this includes Verito and UVs) has shown a growth of 13 percent with the total sale of 25847 units in March 2013 in comparison to 22961 units during the same period last year.
The four wheeler commercial segment that comprises of the passenger and load vehicles recorded a sale of 17212 units while the three wheeler segment registered sale of about 4831 units in March 2013. The export figure for the March 2013 clocked at 2679 units.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Executive for Automotive Division, Mahindra and Mahindra, Pravin Shah said that company is happy to cross the half million sale mark for the first time during the financial year 2012-13, a time when auto industry is facing tough challenges and lower sale value. Moreover the additional 3 percent excise duty on the SUVs hampered the demand. This has destabilized the market. He also added that Mahindra will be trying to create some stir in the market with the introduction of sub 4 meter Verito and other new products.
