The Swift DZire has turned out to be the country’s top selling vehicle, putting an end to the Alto’s long stint at the top, a development that hints the first choice of Indian buyers for a slightly bigger vehicle even at the entry level.

As per reports, the sales of Swift DZire surpassed sibling Alto by 854 vehicle units during the month of May.

The said increase in the sale numbers of DZire, which is much pricier as compared to Alto, is expected to improve the profitableness as well as margin of the well known auto firm.

The DZire is available at a price between Rs.5 to 7 lakh, hinging upon the model, whereas the Alto is priced near Rs 3 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki’s chief operating officer (COO) (marketing & sales) Mayank Pareek stated, “DZire is showing us right. We had identified 5 years back the demand for compact sedan would be sturdy enough with clients actuating it in their mission to promote to bigger vehicles that resulted in to the formation of this new vehicle, which has come forth as such a sturdy product.”

The Swift DZire, which is the part of compact sedan, come out as one of the best budding passenger vehicle section with the sale facts growing from 21 per cent during the last financial to around 2.26 lakhs vehicle unit even when the automobile zone dropped to 7%.

The other cars that got sold in the section comprise Toyota Etios, Chevrolet Sail Honda Amaze and Mahindra Verito.

The DZire got rolled out in the year 2008 on the Swift hatchback podium and had recorded average monthly sale figures of around 10,000 vehicle units on a monthly basis. But the actual increase occurred when the auto giant rolled out 2nd generation of its most popular car, DZire during February 2012. Monthly sale facts surged to more than 15,000 vehicle units each month, which hit more than 17,000 vehicle units during recent months.

Market analysts chasing the auto business stated the DZire has continued to augment sale facts in recent months.

“It is one product that is defying market conditions. Even as the majority of cars are turning down, the DZire has carried on holding pole place, making it the biggest selling vehicle,” stated a leading market forecaster at Motilal Oswal, a Mumbai-based brokerage house.

The company carries on enjoying sturdy customer buoyancy with more than 27,000 imminent bookings for the car, accounting for a few months of its manufacture.
