The 2011 BMW X3 was launched in Pune today and it would compete against the likes of the Audi Q5, Mercedes ML class, Volvo XC60 and the stuff. This new SUV would come in as a CKD unit. The new X3 goes one up on its older model by being more roomier inside and since Indians show an affinity to oil burners, would feature the choice of two oil burners under the hood.

Start-Stop system as also a panoramic sunroof are part of the standard fare here. Moreover Hill Ascent as also Descent are included in the list of standard goodies. Since it would be assembled in India, this X3 would be co-joined by the 3 series, X1 and also the 5 series. The smaller of the diesel motors comes with 184 Bhp on tap and torque of 385 Nm. The bigger 3.0 liter motor comes with 258 Bhp of power and torque of 568 Nm. A difference of two seconds separates both the SUVs on their dash from 0-100 kmph. Pricing for both is however on the higher side considering that just last night, Audi priced the entry level Q5 at a mouth watering price tag of Rs 35 lakhs. The 2.0 liter X3 codenamed as xDrive20d is priced at Rs 41.2 lakhs while the more powerful xDrive30d has got a price tag of Rs 47.9 lakhs. All these prices are ex-show room and bookings would start from September 2011.
