Chevrolet to launch muscle Camaro in India

With the success of the all muscle Cruze, GM India seems confident on taking a step ahead and launching its top-end muscle car, the Chevrolet Camaro. The Chevrolet Camaro has been a symbol of vintage muscle, since it was first seen in the late 60’s. But the fifth generation Camaro gained its popularity after its appearance as ‘Bumblebee’ in the movie Transformers.

It is still not certain yet which version of the Camaro will be coming to India, the coupe or convertible. Also GM has not declared the power house of the muscle car. Internationally it is powered by a base 3.6-litre V6 churning up to 312bhp, and a mighty 6.2-litre V8 producing 426bhp.

In India, the two-door car will carry an import duty of 110%, thus cost upwards of Rs 30 lacs. However, the all muscle Camaro has an entire generation of fans and will be Chevrolet’s flagship in India.

GM India is also launching the face-lifted version of Chevrolet Captiva SUV by the end of March 2012. This SUV was previously seen at the Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi. Powered by a 2.2-litre diesel, the Captiva comes as a CBU kit from South Korea. It appears that GM is buckling up to grab maximum sales this year under premium class segment.
