Nissan unveils Micra Elle Special Edition in UK

With increasing demands of Nissan cars across the globe, the Jap automaker made a move to extend its domain to the fairer sex. The car manufacturer has teamed up with Elle magazine to bring in a special edition of its popular hatchback, Micra for women. Elle is one of the world’s leading fashion magazines. Although the company would only manufacture 500 units of the limited edition car, called Micra Elle, but what counts more is that something ‘exclusively for women’ is going to hit the stores.

Now a question must have popped up in your mind by now; what’s new and special in the limited edition Micra? Well! Special features that distinguish Micra Elle from standard Micra models include panoramic glass roof, chromed accents to the lower part of the grille, chrome interior door handles, 15 inch titanium grey alloy wheels, fog lamps and a roof spoiler. New seat covering comes in part and parcel with the Micra Elle. The femininity of the model too has been ensured with the colors in which it is available. Paint jobs include colors like Shiraz Red, Alabaster White and Atlas Blue.

Few other exclusive features too have been included. Navigation (using Nissan Connect integrated satellite navigation system) and infotainment systems too have been optionally provided. The Elle-factor comes in with the discreet ELLE badges on the tailgate and front wings, front floor mats and front door guards in the Micra Elle.

The Jap manufacturer didn’t lag to induce some of its signature styling and features, including Nissan’s Intelligent Key system for keyless entry and push-button start, electrically heated and folding door mirrors, a speed limiter and cruise control. Apart from the Micra Elle being based on mid-range Acenta model, Nissan induced automatic air conditioning for the ladies on the driver or passenger seats.

Under the hood, the limited edition Micra Elle is to be available in two avatars. The petrol-hearted car would feature a 1.2-litre 80PS normally aspirated three-cylinder engine, while the diesel powered car would run on a 1.2-litre supercharged unit with direct injection motor. The diesel engine is capable of delivering 98PS of power. The lady-Micra, Micra Elle, is to go on sale sometime in September. But the only let down is that its price tag in the United Kingdom is to be somewhere around 12,000 GBP.

Commenting on the limited edition’s launch, Nissan’s Chief Marketing Officer of the launch, Geraldine Ingham said, “This is far more than just a badge on a car.” He further added, “here is a lot of common ground between the Micra and Elle, with both the car and the magazine appealing to very similar buyers. A hectic lifestyle means today’s ultra-busy woman spends her day juggling work and leisure activities, family, friends and relationships – and she needs an ally. The Nissan Micra Elle is that ally, helping her get through the day by being a key partner for getting around the city.”

With its move to attract the fairer sex’s footfalls at its stall, Nissan is certainly expecting a boost in its brand value with the lady-luck.
