Renault Kwid 2022 Quick Review

Renault Kwid 2022 Quick Review

Allow us to tell you about the latest launch from Renault, the all-new Kwid. We tell you all about Renault Kwid 2022 engine specifications, features, pricing & colour options.

Launched in 2015, Kwid was Renault’s answer to the 800 & 1000 cc Mafia of the Indian Automobile Industry, the Maruti Suzuki. Back in those days, Maruti-Suzuki dominated the compact hatchback segment with its Alto.

But with the launch of Kwid, buyers could now get a taste of better interiors and features without stretching their budget. Renault recently achieved a milestone of selling 4 lakh units of Kwid in India, and with that celebration, they’ve launched the all-new Kwid.

Without any major alterations to the exterior of the body, the Renault Kwid 2022 looks way more attractive now, with the help of subtle changes. For instance, the DRLs are now much sharper and crisp looking with chrome lining accentuating from the grille. The headlamp housing is now bigger than before and Renault has taken these design inspirations from the recent trend of split headlamp designs in the SUVs, if it was not evident enough, they have even named it “SUV-Styled Headlamps”. The tail lamp too gets LED elements now, making it better to look at from the back.

But one of the best things about this new Kwid has to be its new wheel design, the dual-tone multi-spoke wheels look really beautiful and it looks good because it makes the kwid feel bigger in proportions than it is. The Kwid is being offered in six colour options, Ice Cool White, Metal Mustard, Fiery Red, Outback Bronze, Moonlight Silver & Zanskar blue.

The Kwid comes powered with two engine options, both being a Three-Cylinder unit. First, there’s the economical 800cc, which develops 54 HP & 72 Nm Torque. This engine comes with a smart control efficiency technology, which automatically calibrates the air-fuel mixture ratio, to offer the best fuel efficiency under any condition. With this tech, Renault claims this 800cc to deliver a fuel efficiency of 22.49 Km/L.

The 1000cc engine however is not just about the fuel efficiency, it even offers a peppy drive. It develops 68 HP & 91 Nm Torque. Surely, the power difference might not seem that huge to offer a peppy drive, but it does, due to the small proportion of this hatch. Weighing just 735 Kg, each HP counts. Hence, the 14 HP increment is enough to put a smile on your face. Both the engines are offered with a manual & an automatic transmission.

The interior too feels updated as it no more feels like an entry-level hatchback in terms of design and finishes. You can’t help but notice the big piano black finished 8-inch touch infotainment system, which can be paired with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The entire dashboard and centre layout are very functional and neatly laid out. There are decent-sized cup holders, a USB socket and a 12v power socket in the centre layout.

It even hosts a decent list of safety equipment like front dual airbags, parking sensors,  ABS-EBD, seat belt reminder, speed alert. Lastly, the seat belt pre-tensioners comes as a standard feature across all variants, keeping safety in mind.

For Kwid’s success, Renault has been banking on the segment-first or segment’s best features like the ground clearance of 184 mm, infotainment system and most importantly the cost of ownership. Renault claims that the Kwid will not be heavy on your wallet, as it comes with a maintenance cost of just Rs 35 paise per Km. It even comes with a comprehensive 2 year warranty period, which can be further extended up to 5 years at an additional cost.

The all-new Kwid has been launched at a starting price of Rs 4.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and is now available at your nearest dealership.
