Safari Storme Facelift Spotted Inside Out In Detail

Safari Storme, stayed for not so long in the tooth, received facelift in India with minor cosmetic changes on onside as well as outside. Only minimal changes concluded on the production version, as a source of industry photographed this SUV in its clear skin under the scorching sun of summer 2015.

At front, Storme facelift is remarkable from the front grille that received honeycomb mesh for itself as well as for the chin. Nothing is changed on sides except for the absence of Varicor engine badge.

In cabin, the steering-wheel with mounted controls is straightly lifted off the Bolt or Zest just like the Harman system. This machine of Harman is tuned to match the Connectinext norms maker and send the output from six-speakers with aux-in, USB and Bluetooth.

However, dashboard offers new black theme with silver inserts putting up the show in a much better way. Tata Motors has retained the circular switches for air-con on central console, in the backdrop of silver inserts. Yet, this India’s favourite SUV of its time misses out touchscreen infotainment system, which makes to pose from an old school era, where hatchbacks nowadays are burgeoned more than such of these features. But the seats maintain plushness with dark grey fabrics for higher variants.

Sixth WEC victory of the season for Audi and Drivers’ World Championship title at Shanghai

On clinching a title and the sixth victory of the season at the seventh of eight rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Audi had two reasons to celebrate. After the success in the Manufacturers’ World Championship had been determined in Japan three weeks earlier, Loïc Duval/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish (F/DK/GB) in the Audi R18 etron quattro won the drivers’ classification in China. At Shanghai, the trio only had to take third place. Their team-mates Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer (CH/D/F) won the race following a strong performance.

Now all six Audi factory drivers, who are contesting the entire WEC, have won a World Championship: Loïc Duval/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish follow Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer, who were the first to decide the new FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in their favor last year. Three victories – at Silverstone, the Le Mans 24 Hours and Austin – plus three second places at Spa, São Paulo and Fuji, and third place at Shanghai, provided the foundation for the Championship success.

Sixth WEC victory of the season for Audi and Drivers' World Championship

In the current season, Audi has celebrated 14 podium finishes, including six victories in the WEC. The drivers’ title was decided in the most important single market of AUDI AG in China on a circuit that actually does not suit the Audi R18 etron quattro well. Despite this factor and a puncture that required an additional pit stop Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer secured the first sports car victory for Audi in China. Tréluyer, following a strong final sprint, crossed the finish line with an advantage of 15.374 seconds. Loïc Duval/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish in the battle for the title avoided any unnecessary risk and concentrated on driving a flawless race throughout. Audi is now traveling to the WEC finale at Bahrain, where in three weeks from now the brand aims to take its seventh WEC victory of the season.

Commenting on the victory, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport) said: “That was a brilliant victory because it was a really hard-fought one. The race was thrilling all the way to the end and decided only in the last half hour. The team performance was particularly nice because car number ‘2’ helped out car number ‘1’ with tire sets. Consequently, we delivered a great result for the Audi brand and showed how harmoniously our team functions. In the winning team, Benoît Tréluyer had a very important part. The track suits him particularly well.”

Echoing his thought and revealing the facts about the race, Ralf Jüttner (Technical Director Audi Sport Team Joest) said: “The race started very hard but ultimately ended in a brilliant result for us. During the course of the race the situation between our competitor and us completely changed. Even at the midpoint of the race we didn’t believe that we were going to take victory. We won and the new driver World Champions were on the podium too. ‘Well done’ to the whole squad.”

Mentioned below are the results of aforementioned race:

  • Fässler/Lotterer/Tréluyer (Audi R18 e-tron quattro) 190 laps in 6h 01m33.343s
  • Lapierre/Wurz (Toyota) + 15.374s
  • Duval/Kristensen/McNish (Audi R18 e-tron quattro) – 1 lap
  • Beche/Belicchi/Prost (Lola-Toyota) – 5 laps
  • Conway/Martin/Rusinov (Oreca-Nissan) – 13 laps
  • Brundle/Heinemeier Hansson/Pla (Morgan-Nissan) – 13 laps
  • Baguette/Gonzalez/Plowman (Morgan-Nissan) – 13 laps
  • Graves/Kerr/Dolby (Oreca-Nissan) – 14 laps
  • Lux/Shulzhitskiy/Wirdheim (Zytek-Nissan) – 15 laps
  • Cheng/Ihara/Nicolet (Morgan-Nissan) – 18 laps

WRC Spain: Volkswagen conquers manufacturers’ title

Volkswagen has won the manufacturers’ title in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with an outstanding one-two victory at the Rally Spain. That means all the WRC titles for 2013 will go to the car maker from Wolfsburg. Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) claimed the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ crown three weeks ago at the Rally France. The French duo went on to score an impressive win – their eighth this season – ahead of their team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) at the “Rally de España”. As a result, Volkswagen has an unassailable lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship with one round still to go this season. Winning three titles in its debut year with the Polo R WRC is Volkswagen’s greatest motorsport achievement to date.

Volkswagen’s achievements in the 2013 WRC season are unparalleled. The German team clinched all of the titles in the top category of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in its debut year – the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship and the manufacturers’ trophy. No other manufacturer has managed to win a World Championship in its first year since the World Rally Championship began. Even in the history of Formula 1, no car maker has yet taken the title in its opening season through their own efforts. Volkswagen’s performance has exceeded all expectations. Originally, it was considered to have set itself ambitious goals by aiming for podium finishes in year one, round wins in the second year and championship titles in its third year.

Volkswagen conquers manufacturers

The Rally Spain was the only round in this season’s WRC series to cover both asphalt and gravel. The Volkswagen Polo R WRC proved to be a great all-rounder in these unique conditions: 13 of 15 best stage times and 26 of 45 possible top-three times went to the World Rally Car from Wolfsburg. The all-wheel-drive triumphed seven times on the nine asphalt stages and on all six gravel sections. Since the Polo R WRC first lined up in the WRC at the Rally Monte Carlo, it has racked up 132 of the 215 possible best stage times – that’s 61.4 per cent. Sébastien Ogier has put in 101 best stage times single-handedly so far this year.

Jeffrey Kruger wins Race 2 of Round 2: 2013 Polo R Cup sheers more excitement

In the exciting ‘second’ race of 2013 Volkswagen Polo R Cup, Jeffrey Kruger took away the top-honours followed by Prashanth Tharani on the 2nd. It came surprising that Rahil Noorani who crossed the finish line in 1st place, was penalised with 20 seconds due to a jump start, and thus ended up in 7th place.

Yatin Magu gate-crashes his first podium finish in the race after crossing the line 3rd.

And at the ‘reverse grid’ of the event, which as usual guarantees the excitement like no one else, Prashanth finishes at the first position, followed by Jeffrey Kruger on second and Rahil Noorani on the third.

However, it was the Rahil Noorani’s error which paved way for the new guy Yatin Magu to make a statement on the podium, lest the Prashanth and Jeffrey are a habitual to the glitterati finish.

2013 Volkswagen Polo R Cup

Commenting on the occasion, Jeffrey Kruger, winner of Race 1, said, “It is wonderful to be on the top spot. After winning a race in Round 1, this is what I was looking forward to. Moreover, having secured a podium in each race till now, it encourages me to win more races.”

In addition to the already sheered excitement, Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Motorsports, said, “Race 2 was a great show as usual with the reverse grid. There were close battles throughout the race and it is always good to see the drivers pushing their limits further to produce better results every time. Also, despite the damages to our cars in Race 1, our technical team did a great job to bring all the cars back on the grid and I would like to congratulate them for a splendid job today.”

Tickets for F1 2013 Indian Grand Prix go on sale

The most awaited event of the year is soon approaching. The Indian Grand Prix will commence on the 25th of October and last till the 27th of October. This year will see the 3rd successful year of Formula one racing championship in India. The event although scheduled for October, the tickets are already on sale. The organizer of F1 in India, Jaypee Sports International, are offering more tickets and pricing options this time. The organizers said that they have started with the sale of tickets this early in order to bring more people to the stands for this season. The race track will be the Buddh International Circuit.

Buddh International Circuit is located in Greater Noida and New Delhi. The race track was homologated for the F1 championship in September 2011 and the first ever F1 championship in India was held in October 2011. This was the 17th race for the 2011 F1 race championship. The circuit was built by Hermann Tilke, famous German race track designer and architect. It has a total length of 5.14 km. The track has 16 corners where the racing cars lap at the highest speed of 210 km/hour. The first racer to win on this track was Sebestian Vettel.

The Buddh International Circuit was tagged as the “Motorsport Facility of the Year” at the event of Professional Motorsport World Expo 2011 held in Germany. The chairman of JPSI, Manoj Gaur, said on this occasion that “This is a very proud moment for us and it feels great to be acknowledged for the hard work that made the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at BIC a resounding success. I would like to congratulate my team and dedicate this award to every member who worked tirelessly in making BIC a world class racing facility.”

2013 F1 Indian GP Tickets Go On Sale

A member of the jury said that “Over the last 10 years we have seen many new F1 circuits created around the world, most of these to an excellent standard as far as the overall facility is concerned but lacking imagination when it comes to the actual circuit design. Buddh International Circuit has gone the other way and created an excellent circuit layout, which the drivers, engineers and spectators love. With adequate facilities to put on a great event, it will mature into one of the best.”

JPSI is trying to pull in more people this time. The last year’s Grand Prix saw only 60,000 spectators which was very less as compared to the 95,000 spectators who arrived to see the first edition in 2011. So for this year the prices have been revised and the grand stand gets optional pricing as well.

The most expensive tickets will be for the seats which are close to the starting and ending points of the race. These seats will cost you Rs 21,000 for 3 days and Rs 12,000 for the Sunday event. Moving towards to seats in the upper tier which has a total capacity of 20,000 spectators will cost you Rs 15000 for 3 days and Rs 10,000 for the Sunday event.

The following is the complete list of tickets and their prices

MGS lower tier – Rs.21,000 for a 3 day ticket; Rs.12,000 for a Sunday ticket
MGS upper tier – Rs.15,000 for a 3 day ticket; Rs.10,000 for a Sunday ticket
Premium stand – Rs.10,000 for a 3 day ticket; Rs.7,500 for a Sunday ticket
Star stand – Rs.7,500 for a 3 day ticket; Rs.5,000 for a Sunday ticket
Natural/Picnic stand – Rs.2,000 for a 3 day ticket; Rs.1,500 for a Sunday ticket.

Sameer Gaur, JPSI chief executive said that “Formula 1 lovers now have every reason to cheer as single day race tickets have been launched together with the season tickets in order to draw more number of spectators for race day. With one of the cheapest tickets available on the F1 calendar, we hope to put up another memorable racing weekend at BIC in October.”

The tickets can be purchased online from the website Tickets are also available at the Mercedes Benz dealerships located in Noida, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

Unfortunately we will not see the Indian Grand Prix in the next year. India has been dropped from the next season of F1 racing championship as a result of a drastic change in the F1 schedule for the year 2014. The organizers wish to conduct the F1 races in March 2014 in India which will certainly be not possible for JPSI after hosting the 2013 Grand Prix in October. So with 2014 dropped down, India will see the next Indian Grand Prix in 2015. Hope this reason is enough to pull the spectators this year.

Porsche 911 to be commemorated at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood is paying tributeto one of the globe’s most resourceful as well asrenowned sports vehicles – the Porsche 911 with the key Central Feature at the 2013 Festival of Speed starting on July 11 to July 14.

The modified 911-inspired sculptureguarantees to be a highly unique ‘art installation’ and will be exhibited, as has turn out to be the tradition, significantly outside Goodwood House.

For the last fifty years, the 911 has been at the core of the Porsche trademark. Some other vehicles in the globe can look back on such a long practice and stability as the Porsche 911. It has been inspiring car buffs all over the globe since its first appearance as the model 901 at the IAA International Automotive Show, Frankfurt, during September 1963.

At the moment, it is viewed by its many devoted buffs as the ideal sports vehicle, the point of reference for all others. The 911 is also the major point of indication for all other Porsche succession. Every Porsche is the most sportsmanlike vehicle in its group, and each one holds a piece of the 911 idea.

More than 820,000 Porsche 911s have been fabricated since the year 1963, and models of each of its 7age groups will be showcased at the 2013 Festival of Speed.  From the opening the vehicle has been at home on race circuits and rally stages across the globe, garnering a status as a swift and trustworthy winner. The momentous vehicles are balanced by gorgeous evocative displays, with subject matters comprising craftmanship, Bespoke design, coachbuilding, engineering science as well as advertising. Just in case you are making plans to visit Munich by the next twelve months, the exhibition is open publicly from March 21 until the end of March next year.

Top concepts at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show

The Geneva Motor Show is currently on and to auto lovers’ delight many unknown car concepts are getting showcased along with many known and expected ones. Here we have brought to you the top 5 concepts that have been displayed by various automakers at the show. Most of these may never go into production, but they surely will impact upcoming vehicles of the future heavily in terms of both design language and technology.

Nissan Resonance

After being unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show 2013, the Nissan Resonance has made its European debut here at the Geneva Motor Show. The swooping shape with its unusual roof and windows treatment made the model stand with a distinctive look. The new Murango, still selling in the US, is a large sporty  SUV that was dropped off the UK lines a few years back, is most likely to have been inspired by the Resonance. Some of the stylish elements on the Resonance can be seen on the next X-Trail and Qashaqai (due to sell next year). Let’s wait and watch till then.

Nissan Resonance

Toyota i-road

Though it may not look glamorous, it definitely will turn heads on the road. This one is already on trial at Grenoble’s, France. Even though we have seen many ‘urban transport solutions’ over the years at motor shows, this one somehow makes its mark on you. Though similar to the Renault Twizy and being powered by an electric motor, the i-road is much narrower, plus it is a three-wheeler with a single rear wheel for steering the vehicle. The Active-lean system tilts the i-road around the corners, while the cabin is closed. It can manage up to 30 miles.

Toyota i-road

Toyota FT-86 Open

Forget the ‘concept’ tag and its insistence that FT-86 is just precursor to what the convertible version of its GT-86 coupe should look like. This is a car Toyota would be mad not to build. The GT-86’s clear lines make it exceptionally well to make the transition. From some angles, FT-86 open hints California Ferrari on it. Have to admit, the roof was not seen in action so as to exactly how it will look with the roof, well have to wait for production. That also as per a Toyota spokesperson the production is not expected before summers.

Kia Provo

The delightful (name apart) Provo managed to pull each stop. With a gaping front grille, pleasant squat stance and nicely rounded surface, the Provo was not only cute but it looks aggressive also. According to the Kia manufacturers the Provo is a pointer for its future B-Segment plans and is most likely to go on sales by 2014 to compete with rivals like the compact SUVs Renault Captor and Nissan Juke. The name can change, as any produced version can be longer or taller. It could be a version of Provo’s hybrid powertrain, which combines a turbocharged engine to drive the front wheels and an electric motor to drive the rear wheels.

Kia Provo

Honda NSX

This was far from being the first view of the Honda NSX, cause with its complete interiors it was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January. The NSX looked so good, that after making its European debut it deserves to be in the best five. The NSX gave strong competition to the multi-million pound Supercars LaFerrari and Mclaren P1 in a very close proximity. With its razor-sharp style and compact proportion it was an inch rival for the Porsche 911 and Audi R8. Of course the hybrid power train should prove street perfect. Rumors are going on the prize tag is £80,000 when it hits the market in 2015.

New Generation Honda Jazz to see Daylight at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show

Honda Jazz was occupying the premium hatchback segment in class but due to falling figures it was rolled back from Indian shores. It can be said that, all this was happened due to the lack of diesel engine, because our market is flooded with those sort of technology and Honda couldn’t tend to stand as an exception. But gaining a good response in petrol, Honda too had identified opportunities for oil burning jags, and wasting no time, it had lined up several models for the upcoming years.

The recently unveiled Urban SUV (concept) and Civic Wagon Estate (concept) had created a stir in the fraternity; all credit goes to diesel options. Need not to disappoint, Honda too had saved Amaze with 1.5 liter EarthDreams diesel bonks for Indian market and the same 1.6 liter calculations is speculated for those upcoming newbies.

Just as of now, Car&Driver publication of Brazil had reported that Honda is going to launch 2014 Jazz at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show paddock.

New Honda Jazz
We Asians share a lot of things in common and so our automobiles. Talking about the new Jazz, it is learnt that, new vehicle will be roomier than its outgoing model but would measure only 3.96m in length; in short, India can derive the tax benefits of sub four meter cabins which is quite important for its market. However, extended wheelbase of 6cm doesn’t seem to be affecting the overall aerodynamics. One can say that, Honda’s ideology of ‘maximum men and minimum machine’ applies here as well.

2014 Jazz draws a lot of cues from the bespoken concepts, inclusive of exceptions like triangular reflector on rear bumpers. With more of aesthetics, subtle flowing lines, coupe resembling look, sharp yet fluidic stance etc. is screeched down from those previous conceptual works.

Japanese are very specific about their machines and so follows assorted type of strategy for different regions. In this case, it is expected for them to load new Jazz with petrol heads for others, but a diesel one for India. Brazilians may drive 1.4 liter and 1.5 liter flex motors with 101 hp and 106 hp respectively for their home market. While for us, the same 1.5 liter EarthDreams diesel from Amaze can be found in its engine bay.

Occasion of 2014 Diwali is posing subtle for 2014 Jazz but still can’t say what is going on in the carmaker’s mindset. It may launch sometimes sooner if found lucrative winds blowing across our fraternity.
