The Tata Tigor subcompact sub 4-metre sedan has been finally launched in India. The new sedan comes with both diesel and petrol engine options and a manual 5 speed gearbox, but there is no automatic option yet. Tigor petrol start at an introductory price of Rs.4.70 lakhs with the top spec variant priced at Rs.6.19 lakhs. The Tata Tigor diesel, on the other hand, starts at Rs.5.60 lakhs with the top spec variant priced at Rs.7.09 lakhs.
Tata Motors, owners of Jaguar Land Rover, today unveiled its first product under its new sub-brand TAMO christened Racemo at the 87th Geneva Motor Show. The Racemo has a 1.2 litre revotron turbo charged petrol engine, which develops a peak power of 190ps and can do 0-100 km/hr in 6 sec. “This is the first digitally native car co-developed with Microsoft,” said Tim Leverton, head of engineering at Tata Motors.
After the success of Tiago in the passenger vehicle market, Tata Motors has launched the Tiago Easy-Shift AMT variant for Rs.5.39 lakhs. The Tiago AMT will be available in the XZA variant with the 1.2-Liter three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. The car will be on sale across the country in over 597 Tata Motors sales outlets.
An onboard diagnostic system screenshot leaked online indicates that the Tata Tiago AMT will come in two variants – XT and XZ. The screenshot has been taken by a member of Team-BHP and it is likely that Tata Motors will launch the car in March although the company is yet to release an official statement on the issue. As we had known all along, the Tiago AMT will be available only in the petrol version of the car.
Celebration Editions of most of its cars has been announced by Tata in a bid to usher in the festive season and give a boost in its sales. In terms of mechanics, the cars are pretty much the same, but there are certain cosmetic changes which make it look all the more festive.
There is an interior add on pack as well as exterior update. This includes a “Celebration Edition” bade, various stickers as well as bumper corner protectors. The interior changes include steering wheel covers, leather seat covers as well as floor mats among others.
Among the beneficiary cars include the Indigo, Nano, Bolt, Zest and the Safari. Tata will look to boost sales as it has not been doing extremely well particularly with the Nano and other small cars. The Bolt has livened spirits to some extent and Tata will be looking to ensure that this festive offering is a hit and gets them more buyers.
Tata Motors is also providing festive discounts when it comes to what these accessories are priced at. The additional cost of getting the “Celebration Edition” package above the standard edition of the car is as below:

The domestic passenger car sales of Tata Motors have seen a fall of two per cent for the month of September 2015. In a similar period last year, the company had sold 11931 units while this year, the sales were limited to 11774 units.
The sales of the company are likely to see a revival with the launch of new products. The GenX Nano as well as the Bolt Hatchback did act as a sales boost for the company and were the reason for the respectable figures from the company. In fact, when it comes to the small car segment, there was an actual jump in sales with number going up from 9766 units in September 2014 to 10226 units in September 2015. However, the sales of the utility vehicles appear to have taken a significant hit of 28 per cent and only 1548 units were sold by the company in the last month.
Tata is pinning its hopes on the Tata Kite and the Hexa MUV to bring about a much needed sales boost for the company. While the former is a hatchback that has been positioned in between the Nano and the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, the latter is to take on the Renault Lodgy and the Toyota Innova. The Kite is to be launched in January 2016 while the Hexa MUV will be seen first at the 2016 Auto Expo. Tata will be relying on these for their growth in the next year.
The festive season was celebrated by Tata Motors by delivering as many as 1100 cars to the company’s customers on the auspicious celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. These sales occurred in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra as a way to mark the occasion. The company had noted a rise in demand in these regions on the eve of festivities with Maharashtra alone taking as many as 700 of the deliveries.
In order to latch on to this, Tata is also offering various “exciting” packages for the festive season and has also worked on aligning deliveries that can meet customer demands.
According to Tata, the festive season is a culmination of excitement, enthusiasm, energy and anticipation. The start of this festival marks the impact Tata has had and the brand is quite proud of the trust and support that it has managed to build. With the Bolt, Zest as well as the next gen Nano, Tata has been quite successful in bringing the happiness of mobility to Indian customers.
Tata Motors has also been quite visible at the NADA Auto Show in Kathmandu. Apart from the Bolt, eXeta and the Zest, the carmaker has also released the new Strome in the country which has been priced between NPR 42.25 lakh and 56.85 lakh. Tata also organized an interactive area at the event to help customers make more informed decisions and this included three sections- music booth, gaming zone and customer interaction section as well.
Speculations were rife and all kinds of rumors are afloat that Tata could launch new Safari next year. News reports had dubbed it as the safari MY16, but certain reports coming in now indicate the MY16 could well mean ‘Model Year 16’ and indeed a new Safari could be launched next year under the name Safari 400.
Of course nothing much is known about this yet to be launched mysterious Safari, but rumors are many about its features. Some say it would be powered by the same 2.2-liter engine with improved out of 170bhp and peak torque of 400Nm. The engine will be mated either to a six-speed manual and a six-speed ZF transmission.
The car may also be fitted with an Harman music system along with 10 speakers all around for that surround sound feel. As far pricing of the Safari 400 is concerned, we believe it could be somewhere between 12-16 lakh depending on the variant.
Keeping his unmatched contribution to the global automobile industry in mind, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Mr. Ratan Tata has been inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame. He was conferred with this honor last week in Detroit along with automotive legends like co-founder of Haynes-Apperson Automobile Elwood Haynes, former Ferrari chairman Luca Di Montezomolo and founder chairman of Penske Corporation Roger Penske.
While receiving the award Ratan Tata said, “It’s a great honour to have been inducted into the automotive hall of fame. I owe this honour to my friends and colleagues in our company who have taken the company its products to such great heights”.
Automotive Hall of Fame was started in 1939 and since then it has honoured 800 industry giants which include the likes of Henry Ford, Ettore Bugatti, Karl Benz, Sergio Pinninfarina etc..

Vehicle check-up and wash up will be done for free. 25 accessories and lubricant suppliers are going to partner in this event and will give discounts of up to 10% on their respective products.

A similar camp was held by the company earlier and it had met with quite a success. That is the reason company officials are upbeat about this upcoming event where they are looking to set a new ‘customer benchmark’ as far as after sales service and efficiency are concerned.
