Looks like BMW’s announcement to launch the 2011 BMW X3 in August has got competitors in a tizzy and in a quick repartee, Audi India have launched the entry level Q5 with a price cut. This is a new variant of the existing 2.0 liter engine of the Q5. The entry level variant now starts with a new price tag of Rs 35.13 lakhs as against the earlier Rs 39 lakhs. In his statement to the press, Michael Perschke, Audi India’s Head said that the company already knows that Indians love the Q5 and now its value for money proposition means that there would be more Q5 customers coming into the fold.
In 2010, Audi India had managed to sell a total of 3003 units whereas for the year 2011, the company has already surpassed this target by July 2011. The Audi Q5 played a significant role in achieving this numbers. The top end version of the Q5 sells with a 3 liter diesel engine and is priced at Rs 45.12 lakhs. All the prices mentioned here are ex-show room, Mumbai.
