Bajaj Auto, which is a known name in India for its bike manufacturing, is going to showcase an improved variant of its Ultra Low-Cost Car (ULC) at the Auto Expo to be held in Delhi in the January of 2012. This is the same long-awaited car, which the company had made plans to develop partnering with the joint venture of Nissan-Renault in India. Bajaj and Nissan-Renault have been discussing on developing the said ULC car for nearly three years now. This car has been targeted for emerging markets, including India. However, this venture has not yet been finalized.
It had been expected earlier that this ULC car would be seen on Indian roads by year 2012 first quarter. Bajaj is expected to look after the designing and development aspect of the car, whereas Nissan-Renault is going to handle its marketing as well as distribution throughout the country.
It had been announced some months back by Bajaj that this car would have an USP of offering much higher performance in fuel-economy criteria, which is expected to surpass 30km/liter. This is going to considerably exceed the fuel economy of the Tata Nano, the cheapest Indian car, which offers 25km/liter.
Bajaj is planning to showcase its ULC car with an improved concept. At the Delhi auto expo, Bajaj is also going to display on its platform the carrier render that will be based on this ULC car.
