Force seems to be in full force as going bullish about its SUV Gurkha 4×4 by launching it in the start of 2013. It is not just a launch but a whole new ‘hopeful’ platform for this carmaker as it failed to make its mark with previous offerings due to some service issues and scanty touch points. However, the earlier models were well received in rural of India but did not proved satisfactory for urban fiasco.
The scheduled date of 15th February 2013 is a good option as only new Honda CRV launch is nearby and not many are crowding the momentum.
We had already reported about Gurkha’s engine specification along with its spy shots earlier but putting it as a reminder again, Force Gurkha 4×4 will be based on Mercedes Benz Glendwagen platform using the German carmaker sourced OM616 engine of 2399cc yielding 75 bhp and 195 Nm of torque. Overall the AWD will not be a permanent one but one needs to switch between the tractions as per his needs.
Mahindra Thar and Maruti Gypsy are said to be the nearest rivals, but they all come from different plethora while Bolero and such likes might come under its pitch if being priced competitively.
