There are a number of new models that have been launched in the market, especially in the saloon segment. In order to compete with the growing competition, Ford has decided that they will be significantly reducing the price of its entry level sedan. Many of the reports say that the price reduction could even go up to Rs.1 lakh. This would lead to the Classic range of Ford to start from just Rs.5lakhs.
The entry level sedan segment is being dominated by cars like Honda Amaze, Maurti Swift Dzire and to some extent also by new entries like Chevrolet Sail and Fiat Linea Classic. These cars are seen to have a high demand in the market for a considerable period of time. Tata Motors and Hyundai are planning to launch a sub-four-meter saloon together, which would add to the already existing competition.
The Ford EcoSport is in such immense demand that there is a huge waiting list that had to be prepared, the sales of the Classis Blue Oval has significantly dropped in the last twelve months. The Ford Classis sedan is nothing but the Ford Fiesta, which came to India in 2005 being sold by a different name. Since the Hyundai Accent was discontinued, the Classic Ford Fiesta will be one of the oldest cars in the segment.
Ford Classic is expected to see the price reduction by the end of this month, though nothing can be said about the car seeing any other changes apart from price revision. For the basic petrol model, the Ford Classis is said to start from Rs.5lakhs while for the diesel variant it would start from Rs.7.5 lakhs.
