Ford India to Boost Car Exports from India

Ford Motor Company believes India can be a major zone for it to develop plus export additional vehicles to other regions even as it is cutting down manufacturing in proportion to the demand in the European market.

Betting high on the ‘B’ or compact vehicle stage/chassis, international automobile firm also expects to produce positive sales capacity from the Asia Pacific zone in the coming time from the existing degrees, president and chief executive officer Alan Mulally told press people on June 17.

“The company will be shipping out Figo as well as EcoSport vehicles out of the Indian market. The domestic facilities will back up the domestic market and also other zones,” stated Alan, who was in the city to flag off the company’s ground-breaking small SUV EcoSport at its domestic facility in close proximity to Chennai.

Indian market is one of the 3rd of the 5 facilities internationally where EcoSport will be fabricated. The company has made an investment of approximately USD 142 million at its facility near here to launch the sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The production line is currently able to create 6 different vehicle bodies on single line and 10 versions of EcoSport.

Presently, the firm rolls out EcoSport at its facilities in Camacari (Brazil) in addition to Chongoing (China).

Later, the output will also begin at Rayong (Thailand) as well as Tatarstan (Russia).

As per Mulally, Ford Motor Company is drawing the advantages of its investments done in the Asia Pacific area.

Mulally said that there is big chance in the B – stage where different types of body panes or “hats” can be applied.

When asked about the firm losing out to the rivalry, which is disclosing innovative models every 3 month period, Mulally stated that Ford is concentrating on the B-section and there will be additional cars.

On the firm ready to shed about USD 2 million in European market in 2013 and whether would be shutting down any of its Europe-based facilities and ship out vehicles out of country, Mulally stated that the Europe is a major concern of all.
