Like speculated earlier, Honda is planning to launch CNG version of its popular sedan City in the Indian market. For now, some of the sources are saying that the CNG version of the City might get its launch scheduled by the end of this month.

Honda has been working on this CNG model for quite a long time and have incorporated few minor changes in the new model. The suspension has become more powerful to support the additional weight of the CNG unit that is being held in the boot of the car. Moreover, the engine is believed to have been tweaked to provide better fuel efficiency. Instrumentation panel tweaks are also expected from the new City CNG.

If the rumors are to be believed, the new City CNG kits will be fitted by the dealers and will not come as the factory made units. The strategy is quite similar to the one adopted by Hyundai India, they currently offer CNG variants of their popular models like Santro Xing, i10 and Accent. Hyundai also uses the same dealer end CNG installment program.

The price of the CNG variant is expected to be around Rs.50,000 higher than the current model. Honda is currently facing quite a tough time due to unavailability of the diesel engines in its product lineup. That is whyit is also planning to launch Brio diesel by start of the next year. Until then CNG variant of new City CNG might provide some sales boost during festive season. Along with the CNG variant of Honda City, Honda India is also launching Brio automatic during Navratras. Nothing more has yet been revealed by Honda, it would be better to wait and watch.
