Hyundai Eon launched with a starting price of Rs 2.69 lakhs

The much awaited Hyundai Eon, the company’s smallest car in India has been launched with an asking price of Rs 2.69 lakhs. The stylish new Eon would be available in 6 variants and immediate bookings as also deliveries have been started for this product. Days before the launch date, Hyundai had started the bookings of the Eon with about Rs 25k as an advance payment wherein if the customer wasn’t happy with the pricing of the Eon, they would actually get a full refund of the Rs 25k.

The Hyundai Eon comes with an ARAI certified mileage figure of 21.1 kmpl. This figure, so far isn’t bested by any of the other petrol cars in its segment. Hyundai officials said that this car would combine the likes of low cost of ownership, excellent build quality, fuel efficiency, good performance and also an un-small car like overall silhouette. The 6 variants of this car are Hyundai Eon D-Lite, D-Lite (O), Era, Magna, Magna (O) and Sportz with the latter being the top end variant. As of now, Hyundai has already sent about 7200 units to their dealers to be delivered to customers. A choice of 5 colors also has been made available.

The base version of the Eon comes without a power steering and the top end model boasts of having a power steering along with AC, music system, central locking, driver air bag and power windows. It is expected to be the best seller for Hyundai and also provide for a tough competition to the likes of Chevrolet Spark and Maruti Alto. No word on whether the Santro would be discontinued or not was conveyed by the Hyundai officials.
