Though, we all had seen the Elite i20, or can be said as the new i20 if talked in Indian terms, but company wasn’t relied of its success and hence bounded to roll out the i20 coupe with three-doors. As the Indian government isn’t so tendered to make a generous call for the coupe versions and so our market conditions doesn’t prove feasible in return, no need to be overjoyed over the ‘unveiling’ of i20 coupe – as international markets only be benefitting from such.

Some progressive changes are seen on the design. A large hexagonal grille is one such example with fog lamps cluster and the headlamp units are consisted of LED lamps. The black patch on the C-pillar is minimized to a certain level, and wheel arches have grown bigger and are posing obvious in the shot images. Even the tail lamps are enhanced in size, where the raking roofline is ducked by a spoiler.

Fluidic design that used to run in the blood of Hyundai didn’t go exceptional yet. On the top of all 17-inch alloys makes the final statement. Must say, 25mm lower roofline had confirmed the cramp to be felt in headroom, but officials claimed there aren’t changes in the wheelbase and space inside the cabin. In fact, that can be exactly judged only when sat inside.

For the engine bay, Korean carmaker had deployed a couple of diesel and petrol engines.

On the diesel side, the i20 Coupe’s bay comes strapped by a 1.4-litre engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. No automatic transmission for them.

For the petrol buyers, options of 82.9bhp 1.25-litre (1248cc) and 98.6bhp 1.4-litre (1,368cc) are on offer. In the precise note, smaller petrol engine comes tied only to a five-speed manual gearbox, but the bigger sibling arrives with a four-speed automatic. However, company does have a plan of rolling-out 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol to the lineup by 2015.
