Hyundai i30 in India

India’s second largest manufacturer of cars, Hyundai Motors India has a Midas touch to its operations. All its launches have been graciously accepted by the car buying public. Not one to rest on its laurels, Hyundai has launched an all new platform for its cars and their fluidic designs. The platform is called the “I” platform and Hyundai India has various iterations of it in India like the I10, 120 and the soon to be launched I30. The new Hyundai I30 in India is a larger hatch than the I20 but is as nimble and lithe as the I10 and I20. It has a longish snout and a definite fluidic concept look. The rear looks very much like the Hyundai I20 but has LEDs in it.

Its interiors would sport the highest quality trim and would be directly in the Skoda Laura territory. It will have USB, Ipod integration and all the power goodies even in the base trim. It would be a hot hatch that will compete with the likes of the to be launched Fiat Bravo, the much loved Honda Jazz and the understated Chevrolet Optra SRV. The Hyundai I30 measures 4245 x 1765 x 1480mm (length x width x height} and also has a commendable wheelbase of 2660 mm. The Hyundai I30’s boot space is also quite good at 340 liters. Fold the rear seats and you will get a cavernous 1100 liters of space. This is truly Honda Jazz territory.

As with all Hyundai cars in India, the I30 would feature top safety features like 6 airbags, safety seat belt pretensioners, traction and stability control, 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS and so on.

The new Hyundai I30 in India would be available in both the petrol and diesel engine trims{ as is the norm for all Hyundai India’s cars}. As of now, rumors are afloat that Hyundai India will plonk in a 1396 cc 4 cylinder DOHC petrol motor putting out 107.5 Bhp @ 6200 rpm and giving out 137.2 Nm @ 5000 rpm. No word on which diesel motor will be under the hood for the Hyundai I30 and chances are that it will have the 1.5 liter CRDI motor from the Hyundai Verna or the Hyundai I20. Fuel efficiency would be at par with the competition. The I30 would be launched by October of 2011 or even before that.

  1. i20 has a problem with low seat height. I hope i30 can come up with adjustable driver seat height.
