After revealing new cars like the Xcent compact sedan, Hyundai, the Korean carmaker has decided to enter the Indian market in another segment as well. Looking at the demand for cars in the compact SUV segment, the company has plans of entering the global mini SUV field. One of the test mules of the company called ix25 was seen testing in China. It is said that this new compact SUV will be showcased at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.
The engines that will be featured in the car are the same as the one used in the Hyundai i20. These engines refer to the 1.4-litre and 1.2-litre diesel engines along with another option of 1.4-litre turbodiesel. The new ix25 compact SUV has been based on the same platform as that of i20. Though the production model of the car looks boxy, the styling of ix25 has been inspired from the Curb concept of Hyundai, which was seen early in the year 2011.
Though Hyundai will be launching the ix25 in the Chinese market first, the company later might be forced to launch the car globally if the demand for the compact SUV segments cars keeps increasing.
