Its official, Ferrari to grace Indian roads from April 2011

Folks its official, Porsche’s distributor in India, Shreyans Motors has bagged the distributorship of the Italian cult classic, Ferrari. After months of speculating, the word has come out about the final decision from the Italian auto maker. It has now been revealed that the dealership was awarded to the company way back in the month of November 2010 and Shreyans Motors have also started to take booking orders for the Stallion brand since the past 3 month. It also has reportedly a few confirmed orders in its kitty. Officials at Shreyans Motors are tight lipped about the whole development and refused to divulge any detail. April is the month when Shreyans Motors is expected to start its journey with the Italian automaker by first opening a showroom in the capital New Delhi followed by the commercial capital of India, Mumbai. Aston Martin, the British sports car maker, is also expected to hit the Indian road by approximately the same time. It is in the process of finalizing the launches of its models and has it dealerships both in Mumbai and New Delhi. News doing the rounds, and also reported by financial daily Economic times, has it that Koenigsegg has finalized a dealership deal with the owner of low-cost carrier Indigo Airline, Interglobe. Shreyans Motors, which apart from the German brand Porsche has a couple of other fashion and luxury brands under its product portfolio, has started taking orders for the FF models, the 599 GTB as well as the 458 Italia. The rolling out of the first official Ferrari vehicle in India and delivering it to the customer is expected even before the official launch of the car in April. These monsters will be surely pricey, grapevine has it that the price of a 599 Italia could be an astronomical figure as high as Rs 3.3-3.5 crores, while the 458 could retail at Rs 2.8-3 crores.

At present there are a total of 50 Ferraris vehicles in India, with a majority of them equipped with V8 from the last generation 355, a few 430s, a couple of 360s and 348s. Only one 458 Italia resides in India apart from a few 599s, but the existence of 612 Scaglietti tourer or 456s are not known. These cars are mainly found in the cities of Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi and the owner of these vehicles have to depend on specialists for maintenance of their cars.
