Land Rover Discovery Sport India Launch In August 2015

It’s obviously because of Tata Motors we are able to enjoy the latest of Land Rover in India. The Discovery Sport unveiled recently in the international market will be coming to India by August 2015, confirmed a source.

A 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering power in two states of tune – 187bhp and 147bhp – will be engulfing the engine bay. A nine-speed automatic gearbox shall be handling the drivetrain.

Apparently, it could be the high-end variant coming to India, HSE, which is loaded with leather seats, electric adjustment for front, xenon headlights, panoramic sunroof, dual-climate control and the carmaker’s new InControl infotainment system with a touschscreen.

A Range Rover is incomplete without the capability of going off-road, where Discovery was in the recent claims of critics of not able to take on the off-beaten tracks. Discovery Sport’s Terrain Response 4WD system is said to push off those claims.

Distinctly, apart from going off the roads, the carmaker had thought of it being a more value for money and a perfect buy for family, the 5+2 seating arrangement can be witnessed for the same. However, the seating space on last row will be not as generous, but it can come handy at time of stuffing generous people for a short drive, or in case children can occupy them. Rivals like BMW X5, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60 seems to be far behind in offering value to Indian customers along with the luxury, thinks Range Rover for offering that package of seating arrangement.

It is interesting to learn that automaker will manufacture this SUV at its Pune facility, which will aid in reducing the cost and simultaneously the price tag. Rs 52 – 50 lakh is the estimated bracket in which the SUV will hunt down it buyers. Land Rover Discovery Sport launch will phase out the Freelander in Indian market, where the cease of production (of this model plate) may take place in April.

Freelander marked the entry-level segment of the brand in India, whereas the Discovery Sport appears more aggressive than its predecessor. If first impression in anything to go for, the latter holds all the streaks in right place.
