Mahindra and Mahindra is reportedly working on electric SUVs for both SsangYong and Mahindra brands. If some reports are to be believed then the Mahindra Reva Electric vehicles is coordinating the process and is using its resources and technological know-how to develop a suitable powertrain for the planned SUVs for both Mahindra and SsangYong.

Moreover, Mahindra Reva currently does not have any plans for developing an electric SUV of its own. According to a senior officer, building an SUV is possible, but the company currently doesn’t have any plans to come up with an SUV in the electric segment.

Mahindra & Mahindra engineers are also working on exploring the probability of the utilization of the technological capability and know-how offered by Mahindra Reva in its two-wheelers. Mahindra Two Wheelers is also planning to develop an electric two-wheeler for the Indian market. Speaking on the same, Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra said that what we are looking at is a certain truth. He was referring to the electric two-wheeler that may come out of Mahindra 2-wheeler. In his statement he didn’t mentioned any timeline for the introduction of the product.

Mahindra has recently introduced the Mahindra Reva e2O electric car in the Indian auto market. Since the launch Mahindra has opted an aggressive strategy to lead the electric car market segment in India. Currently electric car market has only one offering in form of Mahindra Reva. However, there are few other manufacturers that have been offering electrical vehicles in the two-wheeler segment. Mahindra wants to become market leader in the electric vehicle segment and with the works going on these aforesaid vehicles, it will be easier for Mahindra to achieve its purpose.
