It is just a matter of days only when the Autocar reported about Mahindra S101, being tagged to be the new compact SUV from house of Indian carmaker, and now we are bestowed with the spied images of same doing test rounds in the outskirts of Mumbai.

In the images one can see only roughly chalked out design of same, and moreover not much of the sneak peek due can be carried due to heavy camouflage on it. However, one can be conclude, the roofline seems sloppy at rear, and a more curvaceous looks on the corners can be expected, whilst of the boxy edged front panels and speculated bumper designs. Not much of the flesh being plugged right now on this metal, but we expect tail lights to be placed horizontally rather than the vertical stannce on XUV 500, Xylo and Quanton as well.

Terming the possibilities, XUV may share a lot of cues with the younger sibling, except of expected model plate tagging like XUV 3-oh-oh, that Mr. Anand Mahindra had envisioned while launching the Cheetah inspired SUV in 5-oh-oh terms. Unlikely to the Quanto it will set itself apart from the seating arrangements, usurping only 5 adults at a time with the compressed space temperament ergonomics inside, and also may possess features like ABS, EBD, ESP, airbags and many more.

While curtailing the engine specifications, we expect same 1.5L three cylinder, twin turbo diesel engine of Quanto delivering assumed efficiency of 18kmpl in actual. Meanwhile, don’t get surprised if the automaker embeds an automatic transmission in this oil burner, because taking out the smaller XUV in line of uber cool hatchbacks seems to be going in the mindset of organization’s top brass.

We expect launch to happen in the next couple of years, and also to boast fragments like that of XUV, glamorous, lavishing and yet practical too.
