Mahindra Developing The Next-Gen Thar

Seems Mahindra is now developing a new version of the Thar. This news has been confirmed by Pawan Goenka, CMD of Mahindra. Mahindra Thar, launched in 2010, is one of the most powerful off roader SUVs in India equipped with a soft removable top. Known for its commendable off-road capabilities, the popular Thar received a mid-life facelift in 2015.

For the design of the new generation Thar, Mahindra will sort help from its sister companies, Ssangyong and Pininfarina. Goenka said, “For every vehicle that Mahindra develops, we will seek three proposals for its design. One each from Ssangyong, Pininfarina and our team.”

The new generation Mahindra Thar will most likely come with the same 2.5-litre diesel engine that belts out 105bhp and 247Nm. However, the engine will be more refined to churn out extra horsepower and will also be BS-IV emission compliant. It will also have major cosmetic changes.
