Mahindra’s Auto Sector records 22% increase in August 2012

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), the country’s major sport utility vehicle maker, declared that it has registered an increase of 22 per cent in its auto sales figures during the month of August 2012.

The auto sales numbers for the last month remained at 45836 units as compared to 37684 units in the same period of last year (August 2011).

The domestic sales of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd for August remainedat 42826 units from 35756 units in August last year.

This showed a growth of 20 per cent in the company’s domestic sales.

The company’s Passenger Vehicles section (that consists of the UVs and Verito) has recorded an augmentation of 39% after selling 21831 units during the month under review as compared to 15664 units during August last year.

The exports of the company also went up by 56%.

While talking on the performance for the last month, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. stated, that considering the demanding external situation, they are contented to have attained an increase of 22%.

He added that that their new look Verito has elicited anoptimisticreaction of hitting the 2000 plus units sales figure during the last month.

The overall feelings for the auto business are low that could profit from a relief in rates of interest, to improve sales.

Mr. Pravin Shah added that at Mahindra, they carry onremaining careful and observant of the situation.
