The much talked about Maruti Suzuki Ciaz hybrid has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs.8.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Ciaz hybrid is slated to replace the entire existing Ciaz diesel lineup in the country.

The first hybrid car of its segment, the Ciaz hybrid, comes equipped with Suzuki’s latest SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology along with a 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel engine that produces 91bhp of peak power and 130Nm of peak torque. The engine has been mated to a five-speed manual transmission system.

With all this technology under its bonnet, the Ciaz hybrid can achieve a mileage figure of 28.09kmpl making it the most fuel-efficient diesel car in India today. All this fuel-efficiency is achieved because of the SHVS tech that the car comes with which uses ‘regenerative braking’ to charge the onboard battery.

As far as changes to the car’s exterior and interior is concerned, no major changes have been made. On the outside, the biggest change is the fact that SHVS badging has been added, which was absent earlier for obvious reasons. Very soon, Maruti dealerships will also offer SHVS branded accessories for the Ciaz.

The car has been launched in five trim levels. Here’s a look at their price.

Trim Level Price (Ex-showroom Delhi)
Ciaz VDI Rs.8.23 lakh
Ciaz VDI(O) Rs.8.37 lakh
Ciaz VDI+ Rs.8.81 lakh
Ciaz ZDI Rs.9.52 lakh
Ciaz ZDI+ Rs.10.17 lakh
