Maruti Suzuki might have had tough time in 2011, but the troubles of the year gone by don’t reflect in its plans for 2012 Auto Expo. The company will be introducing its Multi Purpose Vehicle, Ertiga at the event, which is Maruti’s answer to Toyota Innova that has been at helm of class for long time now. The company has high hopes from Ertiga, which is also its first offering in this segment. Maruti Suzuki is also planning some other juicy concepts for 2012 Auto Expo. The Ertiga is an updated version of Suzuki Jimmy. Moving to more down-to-earth cars, it will showcase Swift Sport for the first time in the country, which is fundamentally a three-door version of original Swift. It will be powered by a VVT 1.6 litre petrol engine that cranks out 136 horsepower, when mated to manual six-speed transmission.
The sporty design of Swift Sport continues on the outside with HID headlamps, 17 inch alloy wheels, dual exhausts at rear and sporty body kit. The 3rd vehicle, which is likely to be introduced at 2012 Auto Expo, is the Suzuki Swift EV Hybrid Concept, originally launched at Tokyo Auto Show in the month of November 2011. The same model will be introduced at Auto Expo this year. Powering the Hybrid is a standard petrol engine that works with electric motor. It is expected to drive into showrooms soon. It sure seems that the company has lot in store for its consumers at this event.
