Maruti recently revealed it’s new people’s car, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and now the latest news is from its WagonR diesel variant. The diesel variant of the WagonR is likely to be revealed by the middle of 2013. This shows the company’s determination to bring as much fuel-efficient cars in the market as possible. The success of the compact vehicle has already proved that the future belongs to them. This reason has also forced luxury car makers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi to look towards the compact car segment.
In India, Maruti Suzuki has got the maximum budget cars in its product list and is also working on the various other budget cars like Alto K10 facelift and new WagonR. It is also said to be working on 800cc desel engine that will be powering its entry level vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be powered by a 1000cc diesel engine from Fiat. Recently Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director also gave a hint by saying that the company currently has 1.3 litre diesel mill and Fiat is also working on 1000 cc diesel engine. He also added that the company is sure to get these for their smaller car.
The WagonR diesel is expected to see a launch in 2013 and is likely to offer a mileage of about 25 kmpl. However nothing official has yet been revealed. Hyundai is also working on the diesel mill for its i10 hatchback.
