Mercedes-Benz Announces Season II of Young Star Driver Programme

On the toes always to find a Star, Mercedes-Benz India announced commencement of participant hunt for Season II of Young Star Driver programme. Registrations are now open and participants can register themselves as per the details mentioned at the end of this post. Finals is said to be hosted at the Buddh International Circuit Formula One race track on August 8th 2014.

Commenting on this initiative, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Motorsports is inseparable from Mercedes-Benz and with phenomenal success of the first season we are thrilled to announce the second season of our ‘Young Star Driver Programme’ in India. This is a unique opportunity for the budding motorsports talents across the country to showcase and improve their racing skills on international tracks with guidance from globally acclaimed trainers.”

“Motorsports is increasingly becoming popular in India and the ‘Mercedes-Benz Young Star Driver Programme’ aims to act as a catalyst for youngsters in embarking into the world of professional motor racing and will inspire others who want to opt for a racing career and achieve international exposure.” Mr. Kern further added.

Mercedes-Benz Announces Season II of Young Star Driver Programme

The aspirants between 18 years to 25 years are eligible to participate in the event. Vicky Chandhok and his team will decide the entry to this season of Young Star Driver Programme on the basis of various criteria where some of them can be named as race track training, racing acumen, racing aptitude and accomplishments.

Overall, 24 shortlisted participants will be adjudged against each other to qualify for the final 6 slots. The elimination rounds will be conducted on 7th August 2014 and the grand finale on 8th August 2014.

The winner of the ‘Mercedes-Benz Young Star Driver Programme’ Season II will get a chance to realize his dream by winning an opportunity of getting a coveted seat in the AMG Driving Academy PRO-Training in Germany; the runners-up will get the popular AMG Driving Academy BASIC & ADVANCED course in India. In addition, like the topping on a cake, winner will draw an opportunity to meet F1 racing stars and Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One team drivers, Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg, in any one of the F1 races this year.
