New Mahindra Scorpio skipped our heartbeats at the launch, but a missing zest at that platform was pinching us imminently – the automatic variant!

So, Mahindra took notice of that and announced to come up with it soon, after all the rivalry in diesel automatics are gaining limelight paving a narrower escape if fetched late to the market. To our surprise, a test-mule of new-gen Scorpio automatic can be seen doing test-run around Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway.

Reportedly, Mahindra conveyed to roll-in auto transmission only for the top-end ‘S10’ variant only.

Under hoods, it will be 2.2-litre MHAWK diesel engine producing 120PS max of power, which will then be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox from Bosch – the same carried over from old-gen Scorpio automatic.

Hence, prices are expected to see a flag of approximately Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) upwards, i.e. Rs 1 lakh more than S10 2WD drive variant.
