Nissan Introduces Sunny Diesel in India

Nissan Motor India Private Limited today opened the booking for diesel variant of its hugely successful midsize sedan, the Nissan Sunny in India. The Sunny is available in two trim levels; the XV and XL and delivers class leading fuel economy, targeting towards fast growing demand for diesel vehicles in the Indian automotive industry. Designed and engineered on international V platform, it is competitively priced and will be available for the price of Rs. 7,98,000 for base XL and Rs. 8,78,000 for top end XV variant. The shoppers can now book all new Sunny at any of the 47 dealerships across India.

The Nissan Sunny is a result of significant inputs from Indian automotive industry powered by most notable K9K diesel powertrain for emerging from Renault-Nissan joint venture and offers the fuel economy of 21.64 kilometers per litre. It is ideal for both exploring countryside and city drive. The diesel variant is engineered at Nissan facility situated in Chennai and is motivated by four-cylinder 1.5 liter K9K engine, which is good for churning out 86PS of power at 3750 rpm with 200 newton meters of torque at 2000 rpm. The engine is teamed up with five-speed manual transmission and is the first car offered anywhere in the world with K9K diesel engine.

They are now able to clock more than 3000 sales for Sunny Petrol so far reinforces their belief that Indian shoppers prefer the products of Nissan, which are filled with excitement and innovation.

Aimed at fast growing group of young professionals of India, the Nissan Sunny Diesel mirrors petrol variant’s spacious interiors and sophisticated style. It is a 2nd model after the introduction of Micra hatchback to use pre-eminent ‘V’ platform of the company, which carries sophisticated engineering for delivering light weight, contemporary structure providing robust ride refinement, dynamic on-road behaviour and integral strength.

The Nissan Sunny Diesel carries extreme levels of passive and active safety features and technology engineered for enhancing both ownership and driving experience. It is offered in six different color shades, which include Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Sapphire Blue, Storm White, Brick Red and Onyx Black, all of which are equipped with sophisticated safety features like Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Antilock Braking System (ABS), Engine Immobilizer, Airbags and Brake Assist (BA).

High on Style Quotient

The Nissan Sunny is identical to that of petrol version in terms of style and sleek and dynamic proportions. The signature grille of Nissan rules the front and is bordered by jewel shaped headlamps with discreet, stylish chrome touches. Wide opening doors provide superior passenger entry and exit while stylish curves, neat rear spoiler and muscular haunches that add a sporty touch to the silhouette.

The Nissan Sunny diesel is 4425mm long with 2600mm wheelbase, which directly translates into spacious cabins, providing abundant rear knee room that is on par with luxury sedans and giving passengers the opportunity to cross their legs in comfort. Its MacPherson independent front struts with coil springs offers comfortable ride quality; on the other hand, the compact torsion beam rear axle minimizes intrusion into luggage area. Anti roll bars and sub-frame mounted suspensions at both ends help reduce vibration and road noise.

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd is a completely owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Limited Japan, which was founded in the year 2005 with a vision of ‘Enriching People’s Lives’ through most up-to-date Nissan products and technology. In the year 2008, the company together with its global alliance partner Renault signed a MOU with Tamil Nadu Government for setting up a production facility at Oragadam. Nissan Motor India Private Limited has appointed Hover Automotive India (HAI) as an exclusive strategic alliance partner for handling marketing and sales, customer relationship management, after sales and dealer development in India.
