Nissan reveals its Altima V8 supercar

After the seven month of the announcement, Nissan has finally revealed its $1.56M supercar Nissan Altima for the Australian V8 Supercar series. The car has been unveiled in Melbourne by Kelly Racing, the racing machine is Nissan investment for the new regulations based on Car of the Future(COFT) that has also credited in return of some of the other manufacturers back to the series. The car is powered by Nissan’s VK56DE engine, a 5.6 litre V8 that will also be featuring in the 2013 Nissan Patrol SUV. The engine has been downsized according to regulations and can churn out about 600 horsepower.

Kelly Racing’s Todd Kelly says that it wasn’t a big challenge to transform production version of Altima to fit over the chassis. He further added that the widening of rear guard, extending of the roof, doors, bonnet and body panels helped it to become a supercar. All the entries from the various manufacturers will be tested to ensure its aerodynamic parity.

Kelly Racing’s Todd and Rick will be the man behind the wheels during the season’s Feb opener at Adelaide. Currently the team is called Nissan Motorsports but the attire that was witnesses is only for the launch, the competing car will be featuring Jack Daniels sponsorship that is being worn by team’s Holden Commodore racecars. Nissan has not entered the race in last two decades after its car was rejected from the competition.
